Transfer Deadline Dealings

The closure of the January transfer deadline window brought a flurry of major moves and Liverpool have been prominently involved.  The strike force has changed dramatically with the departure of Fernando Torres to Chelsea for a transfer record of L50M and the earlier departure of Ryan Babel to Hoffenheim for L6M.

Incoming are Luis Suarez from Ajax for L23M and Andy Carroll from Newcastle for L35M.  Both are young, with Suarez have a more proven track record.  Importantly, both appear committed to the Liverpool cause - a trait which had suddenly appeared wanting in Torres.

News of a possible loan move for Stephen Warnock - to balance the loan out of Paul Konchesky to Nottingham Forest - would go some way to satisfy concerns about strengthening the defence.
